On September 10, 1954 Althea Benn was born in Cedar City, Utah to Jean Benson and Frank Benn.
Althea attended elementary school, middle school and high school in Cedar City, Utah. She married Herman Pete. During her marriage she gave birth to Orlando and Waylon.
Althea enrolled in college at Southern Utah University and earned an Associate Degree in 1987. After college Althea moved to Salt Lake City and lived with her brother Terrell and was employed as CNA until she moved to Ely, Nevada to be with her lifelong friend Elvis Wall after he left Salt Lake Community College as a transfer advisor to be employed as an Native American Coordinator with the Ely District Office, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) until his retirement of federal service in 2016. While in Ely she was employed at Great Basin National Park in 2004 a job she loved dearly. Althea moved back to her native home town until her untimely passing on Saturday April 20, 2019 at her loving son Orlando’s home in Hurricane, surrounded with her family by her siside.
Althea leaves behind her soulmate Elvis, her sons Orlando (Bridget), and Waylon. Grandchildren Deichae, MarDee, Orlando Jr, Cotton, Leeon, Lani and Kiara. Along with brothers Ivan Benn and Pernell Benn and her sisters Gladys Tillahash, Wendy Pete and Yolanda Benn.
Althea will be greatly missed by those who knew her and members of her extended family
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 27, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Iron Mission LDS Branch (530 North 100 East) in Cedar City, Utah a viewing will be held at the same location from 10:00-10:45 am. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Affordable Funeral Services.
