Obituary for David Allen Miller

David Allen Miller, age 83, passed away on December 10, 2022, in Cedar City, Utah. Dave struggled
with heart disease and Parkinson’s for a number of years. He passed away peacefully at home with his
wife, Kristin by his side. Dave was born on June 22, 1939 in Eaton, Ohio. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Eugene George Miller and Alice Thomas Hoke, as well as several brothers and sisters.
When Dave was 7 yrs old the family moved from Eaton, Ohio to Lawton, Michigan to a 300 acre farm.
He recounted many fun and sometimes life threatening experiences living the farm lifestyle. Dave
joined the United States Marine Corp and served proudly for 6 years. Upon leaving the Marine Corp
Dave settled in Southern California for many years. In 1989 the family moved to Oregon. After 12
years there they resettled in Redding, California. In 2011, the family made their final move to Cedar
City, Utah.
Dave was married to Marie Annette Mayfield for approximately 10 years and they have 3 daughters.
Their marriage ended in divorce. Dave married Kristin Jean Goodale on November 13, 1976 in Brea,
California. They adopted 3 children. Dave joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in
1978 and was a faithful member of the church the remainder of his life. Dave and Kristin were sealed
in the Los Angeles Temple in 1988.
Dave was loved by many for his positive outlook and happy demeanor. He never let a person go by
without saying hello and asking how things were going. He always had a joke or a story to tell. He
enjoyed hunting in his earlier years. As he got older he said he could not harm another animal. He
loved the many dogs and cats he had throughout the years. Dave loved taking the kids on wild rides on
all terrain vehicles and spent many years entertaining kids and friends while boating on Lake Mead,
Lake Powell and Lake Shasta. The entire family cherishes those memories and time spent together.
Dave was preceded in death by 8 brothers. Gene, Harry, Jim, Charlie (WWII killed in action), Paul,
Tony, Howard and Richard. 8 of the 9 men in the family served proudly in the armed forces. Dave
was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Marjorie and Florence. Dave is survived by 3 sisters; Ruth Ann
Schmitt of Decatur, Indiana, Caroline (Jim) Wiley of Waterford, Michigan, and Juanita Flory of Paw
Paw, Michigan.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kristin; 6 children; Dana, Nancy, Loara, Sheila, Nathan, and Austin; 13
grandchildren;and 10 great grandchildren with 1 on the way. He will be missed by many other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Cedar North Stake
Center, 95 N 2125 W, Cedar City, Utah. Public viewing will be held prior the funeral from 10:00 to
11:30 AM. Interment will be held at the Cedar City Cemetery on Monday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00
AM, under the direction of Heartlight Funeral Services, 2002 North Main Street, Cedar City, Utah
(435-586-3456).
The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the many friends and neighbors who
offered support and assistance to both Dave and Kristin. They would also like to recognize the kind,
loving, and compassionate service provided by Ethan Bunker of Sun Tree Home Health and Hospice.
