Obituary for Don Eugene Grimmer

Don Eugene Grimmer, age 75, passed away on, January 2, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Don passed peacefully at his St. George, Utah home, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born June 25, 1947 in Williston, North Dakota into the loving family of Charles William Grimmer and Mittie Ellen Scott. He was the third of nine children and was raised in Royal City, Washington. Don graduated from Royal High School, and shortly after served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1967 to 1969 in the Colorado, New Mexico Mission. Don earned an Associate’s Degree at Big Bend Community College and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University. It was while he was at BYU that he met his wife, Valerie Wintch. They were married on May 26, 1972 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised a wonderful family of 4 children and were blessed with 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Don and Valerie celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past year.
Don actively served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in a variety of callings. Of all the callings he held, his favorite was in the nursery helping with the little children. He was great with children, and they loved him.
Don was a successful entrepreneur, and many times during his life, he either started his own successful business or helped make a business better. His greatest passion was owning his own mechanic shop, All-Tech Auto and Repair, in Orem, Utah. He loved to work on old cars and would often buy wrecked cars so he could repair them.
Don enjoyed many hobbies. His favorites were fishing in Alaska for halibut and hunting dall ram, elk, deer and pheasants.
Don is survived by his wife, Valerie, and his children, Cynthia (Cary) Clark, Justin (Jiyon) Grimmer, Josie Stewart, Cherity (Justin) Andersen, four brothers and two sisters, Dee Ray (Judy) Grimmer, Dennis (Laura) Grimmer, Dianne (Reggie) Garcia, Dorothy (Ron) Berg, Duane (Evelyn) Grimmer and Dwight (Dana) Grimmer.
