Obituary for Donal Duane Barrett

Donal D. Barrett age 69 passed away unexpectedly on October 10 with his wife holding his hand & his children by his side. Don was born June 13th 1952 to Victor & Esther (Tess) Barrett who proceeded him in death. He grew up in Mesquite NV, and graduated from Virgin Valley High. He loved playing sports, going hunting early before school, and started several bands. He was always there to lend a hand. Don became a nurse, but went on to become an advanced life support paramedic. He was proud of completing his paramedic training from Denver General Hospital with over 1,000 hours of training. He spent many years in his chosen profession which took him all across the country from Las Vegas, to Anchorage AK where he received an associate degree in Applied Science. His major was Paramedical Technology. In Alaska he flew MedEvac, worked as a paramedic and worked in the ER of the hospital. He spent his free time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, and mining for gold with his wife of 36 years, Marybeth. They eventually moved to Parowan UT where they raised their 3 children. He continued to play his guitar, wrote songs, hunt & fish, and occasionally enjoyed the Cubs game. He is survived by his wife Marybeth, his 3 children Martin, Amanda (Greg), Michael (Elisa), and 5 grandchildren. His brothers Dennis (Sandra), Gene, and sisters Jeannetta (Alfred, preceded) , and June (Ron). In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Donal Barrett donation account at State bank of Southern Utah to help his wife with unexpected funeral costs and hospital bills.

There will be a visitation/celebration of his life at Grace Christian Church in Parowan, Utah on Thursday, Oct. 14 from 6-8pm and on Friday, Oct. 15 from 10:30am-11:15am, followed by the Funeral at 11:30am there at the Grace Christian Church. Interment will be at the Parowan Cemetery under the direction of Affordable Funeral Services
