John Dee Smith, age 67, passed away unexpectedly after battling pneumonia. He was born April 3, 1954 to Clark and Carol Murdock Smith of Beaver Utah.
He grew up working on the farm with his dad and brothers. He loved to play little league baseball and help his mom with chores around the house. He spent many nights sleeping in the yard to take their water turn with his brother Mike. Mike said he would keep the sleeping bag warm if John would change the water. He graduated Beaver High School in 1972 and served a mission in the Kentucky, Tennessee Mission.
He married Susan Crook on May 8th in the St. George Utah Temple. Together they had 4 children. He worked on the farm almost every day of his adult life milking cows and raising crops. He knew what every cow looked like and had a name for all of them. He spent many hours helping in boy scouts and serving in various callings for the church. He was very good at figuring out problems and coming up with innovative solutions. He had a very big heart and hated anyone to feel sad or left out. He always tried to help everyone feel loved and included.
He enjoyed doing family history and learning about his ancestors. He also enjoyed visiting and taking vacations with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Garth. He is survived by his wife Susan C. Smith, Daughter Jennie (Dave) Bateman, Son Brandon (Nicole) Smith, Daughter Amy (Jace) Lambeth and 19 grandchildren, 3 brothers Benjamin (Linda), Michael (Jinyce), Eddie (Debbie) Smith, and Sister Julie (Randy) Davis all from Beaver Utah.
