Obituary for Johnny Dale Rollins

Johnny Dale Rollins passed away at the age of 65 in Cedar city, UT. Johnny grew up in Montana. He Graduated from Hellgate High school in Missoula, MT in 1973. He enlisted in the Navy soon after. His first port being Pearl Harbor, HI. Serving as a Circuit control operator. March 13 1976 he married the love of his life Virginia Russum when he was stationed in San Diego, CA. He continued to serve his country through several conflicts earning some awards and ribbons. Johnny and Virginia had five sons while he was moving from base to base Virginia stayed in California to raise the boys with the help of her family. In 1993 Johnny retired from the Navy and moved his family to southern Utah. Later Johnny took a job for Swift transportation driving truck and Virginia went on the road with him. They enjoyed being able to see the country and liked collecting postcards from all of there destinations. In 2013 Johnny suffered a stroke while driving his truck and had to retire and move home to Cedar City, UT where They lived with their oldest Chris and three Dogs, Johnny enrolled at SUU as an engineering student wanting to expand his knowledge from what he learned in the Navy. Johnny is proceeded in Death by his wife Virginia (Russum) Rollins, his Mother and stepfather Iris and Charles Lilley, his half Brothers Bill Wood, Richard wood, and sister Nila Johnson. He is survived by his five sons. Chris Rollins of Cedar city, UT, Steven Rollins of Phoenix, AZ, Johnny (Stephanie) Rollins Jr. of Poplar, MT, Sandy Alan (Katie) Rollins of Cedar city, UT, James (Miranda) Rollins of Cedar City, UT. His Sister Gloria Milner, and 11 grandchildren. We would like to thank the Cedar city police department and all the search and rescue teams that worked tirelessly to locate Johnny. We also would like to thank the residents of Cedar city that showed up to help look. Johnny’s Family would like to especially thank the young men that located him and got help. There will be funeral services held at a later date where he and Virginia will be laid to rest together.
