Obituary for Kathie Ann Ward (Kesler)

Kathie Ann Kesler Ward passed away on March 1, 2022 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born on February 25, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her childhood home was in Milford, Utah with her parents, Delmer and Hazel Kesler. She married her sweetheart, William Thomas Ward, on August 8, 1962 in Ely, Nevada. They were later sealed in the St. George LDS temple on May 8, 1965. Kathie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who found great joy in her church service.

Kathie loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was affectionate, fun-loving and generous. Kathie was known to her family as the Christmas Mom. She loved everything about Christmas, from the Celebration of Christ to holiday traditions and time with her loved ones. She even listened to Christmas music year round.

Kathie was a very creative person with many talents. She sewed, quilted, crocheted, and made dolls. She was a professional floral designer, who at one time owned her own flower shop. She also had a beautiful singing voice and accompanied herself on the guitar. In her later years, she enjoyed genealogy and family history.

Kathie loved to help and serve others. She especially loved to create homemade gifts for her family, friends and neighbors. In her later years, as a nursing care resident, she always kept treats, quotes and small gifts in her room so she could give them to someone who needed extra cheer. At Christmas time, the only gift she wanted was the means to give gifts to her loved ones.

Kathie is survived by her children, Janet of Farmington, Utah, Bill (RaNae) of Beaver, Utah, Roger of Argyle, Texas, her grandchildren, Jacob and Alexis, her brother Fredrick Kesler of Salt Lake City, Utah, and her sister, Sharen Farnsworth of Billings, Montana.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Health and Rehabilitation and Sun Tree Hospice for their compassionate care during Kathie’s long battle with the debilitating effects of Parkinson’s Disease. We also express gratitude for the continued love and friendship she received from the members of the Cedarview Ward and the Kolob Branch.
