Kenneth Nelson Craig unexpectedly passed away at the age of 75 on April 11, 2019 at his home in New Harmony, Utah. He was born on July 21, 1943 in Rockwood, Tennessee, to John and Doris (Marlow) Craig.

Ken was raised in rural Tucson, Arizona where he enjoyed running track, hunting, and camping. After graduation he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Zealand South Mission, from 1962 to 1964. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Arizona, where he met and married the love of his life, (Rhoda) Dawn Tanner. they had seven children and later informally “adopted” an eighth. The family lived in southern California, Molokai, Hawaii, and Lake Tahoe, Nevada as Ken supported the family with a private tax accounting practice. When the children were all raised, Ken and Dawn settled in New Harmony, Utah.

Ken was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and actively served in various church callings, including Bishop of the Tahoe North Ward, and in the Stake Presidency of the Reno, Nevada North Stake. He also served as an ordinance worker in the Reno, St. George, and Cedar City temples. He was known for his generosity, his quick sense of humor, his extraordinary intelligence, his prominent spirituality, and his profound testimony of and devout love for his Father in Heaven, and His Son, Jesus Christ. He would frequently say out loud, “My life is so rich. I am so incredibly blessed.”

Ken is survived by Dawn, his wife of 53 years, and his children Ken (Katie), Justin (Trisha), Holli (Jesse) Blankenbiller, Marlise (Jonnie) Smurthwaite, Kendra (Erik) Johnson, Brett (Jessica), Dehn (Catherine), and late-comer Jared (Jan) Heiner. He was also a remarkable grandfather to 47 souls.

In keeping with his wishes, Ken was cremated, and the family will gather for a memorial, but no official funeral services will be held. Cards and condolences can be sent to Dawn Craig P.O. Box 705 New Harmony, UT 84757.

Our family just recently heard the news of Ken’s passing. We were shocked and saddened to hear of this loss. We have known Ken for over 34 years, when he did our first tax return as a very young couple. Ken even came out to stay with us in Palm Springs in the 90s to finish a tax review. We trusted Ken with everything about our lives. He was a very honorable person to have known. Our condolences to his family.
