Obituary for Melody McCoard (DeGroot)
Melody DeGroot McCoard, age 61 lost her valiant battle with cancer on January 8, 2020, at her home in Cedar City, Utah with loved ones by her side.
Melody was the first born to Jerry and Jeanette Carter DeGroot on December 31, 1958.
Melody married the love of her life, Scott H McCoard on June 24,1977 in the Ogden Utah Temple. They never were able to have children, so she lovingly adopted into her life many beautiful souls that she loved unconditionally until the day she died. When Melody loved you, she loved you all the way. She didn’t believe in loving half way.
Melody was a delightful, full of life, out going, loving, kind person. Everyone she came in contact with she willingly opened her heart to them and would do anything for them.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Scott, her parents Jerry & Carol DeGroot and her adoring brothers Darren (Rhonda), Steven, Ron (Lori) many nieces and nephews that she loved unconditionally. Melody and Scott have an adopted daughter that Scott says she adopted them out of sheer love that went both ways.
She was proceeded in death by her loving mother Jeanette DeGroot, her grandparent’s Lloyd and Minnie Carter, Dave and Helen DeGroot
A celebration of life will be held January 11, 2020 at 1:00 pm. In the Cedar View ward Relief Society room located at 1925 west 320 south Cedar City.
A celebration of her life will also be held on Tuesday January 14, 6:00 pm. in her home town of Riverdale Utah at 4000 Parker Dr. Riverdale, Utah 8th ward Relief Society room.
