Obituary for Nancy Elizabeth Blair

Nancy Elizabeth Blair, 79, of Enoch, Utah, passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones.

Nancy was born in Ely, Nevada, on July 13th, 1943, to Georgia and Donald Shaver. She attended Ely Grade School, White Pine High School, graduating with the Class of 1961, and attended the University of Nevada in Reno. After college Nancy found employment as White Pine County Clerk Recorder, Nevada Northern Railroad, and Kennecott Copper Corporation in Salt Lake City and Robison Nevada Mining Company in Ruth, Nevada, and retired there as the Human Resources Coordinator.

After college Nancy married Andy Carlin and they had one son, Donald Shane Carlin. They were married until Andy's death in 1988.

Nancy met Hank Blair in Ely, Nevada on Valentine's weekend, where Nancy and Hank were invited guests of Scott and Judy Hase for the Rotary Club's Valentine Party. They were then married in Scott and Judy’s backyard in Ely, Nevada on June 30, 1990. Their marriage united Nancy and Shane to Hank, Brandi and son Chris.

Nancy had so much love for people that it made it easy for her to connect with new friends wherever she went. Nancy was well known by all for being fun loving, intelligent, generous, beautiful, and to little children, was the most fun of grandmas.

Nancy's love carried over to all the animals and especially her faithful companions, Pepe, Blackjack, Kona, Neco and Lucky.

Nancy was a member of the Elks Club, Beta Sigma Phi RHO International Sorority, and was co-chairperson of the Days of '47 Parade in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1990.

Her hobbies included quilting, piano (she would play with her sister), singing, golfing, bowling and choir. She was a member of Sweet Adaline's. And Nancy loved to dance dance dance! It didn’t matter what kind of music it was. If there was music playing, Nancy could dance to it.

Nancy retired in 2011 to spend time with Hank and her loving pets and pursue her love of quilting, singing, playing her piano, golfing, bowling, and traveling to many different countries in Europe, Mexico, Central America, Turkey and the Caribbean Islands and tending to her beautiful garden and roses.

Nancy is survived by her husband Hank Blair, her only son, Donald Shane Carlin (Jennifer), stepdaughter Brandi Blair (James White) stepson Chris Blair, brother Dave Shaver (Barbara), and brother Mike Shaver.

She was predeceased by sister Jackie Klaich (George), sister Karling Wheelock, brother Billy Shaver and her first husband, Andy.

Nancy will be lovingly missed. Her charm and grace touched everyone who knew her.

At her request no services will be held.

A celebration of life will be held at Ely, Nevada at a later date to be announced.
