Obituary for Ray Edward Hoy

Ray E. Hoy, age 69, passed away suddenly of natural causes, at his home on August 11, 2020 in Cedar City, Utah. He was born September 9, 1950 in Wahoo, Nebraska, to Ray Earnest and Shirley (Green) Hoy.
Ray worked the fields and fished the streams of the Midwest before moving to Provo, Utah where he met Earlene Robertson. They were married December 19th, 1975 and together had two daughters, Tawsha and Crystal. They lived in Hyrum, Utah for many years. They were later divorced. January 1, 2013 Ray married Cathy (Christensen) Hoy, who lived with him in the home he built near Quitchapa Lake until his passing.
Ray became a skilled construction worker, concrete finisher, and heavy equipment operator, living in many places before settling in Cedar City, Utah. Ray loved landscaping his yard and writing poetry.
Ray was preceded in death by his mother and father. His daughter, Tawsha Hiatt, passed away August 12, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Cathy (Christensen) Hoy and stepchildren Kate Leigh Kupfer and Matthew Englestead; sister, Cheryl (Hoy) and Royce Stuchlik; daughter, Crystal (Hoy) and Jared Atkinson; granddaughters, Alexus (Kelley) and Dave Rohrer, Krista Johnson; grandsons Dezmond Dalton, Jonathan and Brylee (Hall) Johnson, Zach Markel; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ray was cremated; his ashes will be scattered on Cedar Mountain at a Celebration of Life on a date yet to be determined. Online condolences can be sent to www.affordablefuneralservices.com.
