Obituary for Wayne George Smith

Wayne George Smith passed away at his home in Cedar City, Utah, on Sunday the 26th of January 2020. Wayne was born on May 8, 1936, in Idaho Falls, ID. Wayne was raised in San Francisco, CA, with his parents and his sister, Pat. He graduated from Balboa High School.
After high school, Wayne worked briefly for the telephone company after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed in San Antonio, TX, he met and married Delphine Marie Bradley. They had one son, Steven Richard Smith. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Wayne worked for the City of San Antonio Water Department as a Computer Operator. He was then employed by the USAA Insurance Organization as a data entry specialist until his retirement.
Wayne was also involved with the Boy Scouts as an assistant Scout Master. He served as Bishop for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the San Antonio 1st Ward.
Wayne loved leather work, music, golfing, and running. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife Delphine “Marie” and his sister, Pat. His is survived by his son, Steven (Marion); his grandchildren, Richard (Lindsay), Samantha (Mark), Shannon (Matt), and Mark; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 370 N. 4050 W., Cedar City, UT. A viewing will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Affordable Funeral Services.
