On August 2, 2021, Wayne C Taylor, Sr. passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Myra at his side. Wayne was born February 19, 1943, to parents Orville and Sylvia Taylor of Rose, Idaho. He married Myra Hansen in the Idaho Falls Temple in 1961 and together they raised 12 children. He attended schools in Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Oklahoma. He graduated in Reno as a registered nurse in 1972. He did graduate work in Oklahoma. Wayne worked as a loan manager for four years. He served in the military for 27 years retiring as Lt. Colonel. He served four years in the USAF in Texas during the Vietnam War. He served in Berlin in 1990-91 during the Desert Storm War. Wayne worked forty years with the mentally ill in Idaho, Nevada, Texas, Maryland, Colorado, Utah, and Germany. He retired in 2006 from the VA Medical system due to cancer. During his later years Wayne suffered daily fevers and malaise from chemotherapy related to cancer.
Wayne loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and served in many callings. His favorite church assignment was serving as a Seventy from 1970-80. His assignment as Seventy lasted 10 years prior to its change in 1980 to General Authority. He loved going out with full-time Elders to do missionary work in Nevada, Texas, Maryland, and Utah. Presently, Wayne and Myra were set apart as Temple Ordinance Workers assigned to the Jordan River Temple. They were both anxiously waiting for Covid-19 restrictions to be lifted so that they could resume their passion for family history and temple work.
Wayne was compassionate and always willing to help those in need. He didn’t hesitate to do what he could to help another person fight life’s battles. Wayne’s greatest source of joy and satisfaction was his large family. His greatest loss was the death of his disabled son James in 2004. He enjoyed memorizing Bible stories to retell them to anyone who would listen. He also loved to share his personal stories and had the gift of captivating audiences of all ages with his charm. Wayne had a passion for music. You could often find him at the piano playing classical music and hymns where all who were near would enjoy listening. His pleasant demeanor was enjoyed by all those who knew him well whether it be sitting down eating ice cream while watching a Jazz game, sitting and watching an old classical movie, or playing a game of chess, it was a privilege to be in his company. Wayne was a kind and patient father and husband. His sweet influence created a successful happy home. Wayne was the quiet strength and rock of his family and will be deeply missed.
Wayne is survived by his wife Myra of almost 60 years and his eleven living children and their nine companions; Vance (Heidy Holiday)Taylor, Kirsten (Thomas) Bradshaw, John (Dexy Cruz) Taylor, Victoria (Travis) Peterson, Sarah (Jared) Bott, Paul (Ashley Carlson)Taylor, Deborah (John) Glissmeyer, Wayne Jr. (Amy Card) Taylor, Richard (Camille Heaton) Taylor, Joanna Nevers, Meredith Taylor and 57 grandchildren and 5 companions and 9 great-grandchildren; siblings: Kent (Judy) Taylor, Chris (Holly) Taylor, and Brent Taylor.
